Joseph is the leader of Quantum Book Club here at The Book Jewel, and in addition to being a bookseller, he's also an avid podcast listener, an actor (stage & screen) and a writer (for podcasts, comics, and more). Him and his brother John are the imaginative & hilarious duo behind the 'Bobo & J-5' comic sold at The Book Jewel. Without further ado, here are Joseph's 8 books for podcast lovers.

Non-Fiction:

-The 99% Invisible City by Kurt Kohlstedt and Roman Mars. Based on the hit podcast, this book takes a closer look at design and architecture features that we often take for granted.

-Why Fish Don't Exist by Lulu Miller. Are you a fan of Radio Lab? Longtime contributor and current host Lulu Miller sings in this book that is part memoir and part biography of a complicated scientific figure: David Starr Jordan.

-The Lady from the Black Lagoon by Mallory O'Meara. If you love film, horror, history, wit, and/or feminism, you'll love this book! O'Meara, host of the Reading Glasses podcast, details her account of investigating Milicent Patrick, a trailblazing monster designer, who seems to have been wiped from the record.

Graphic Novels:

-Mary: The Adventures of Mary Shelley's Great-Great-Great-Great-Great Granddaughter by Brea Grant, Illustrated by Yishan Li. Speaking of Reading Glasses. co-host Brea Grant also has a book! This incredibly fun read follows Mary, descendent of THE Mary Shelley, who discovers that she may have a more magical connection to her family lineage than she thought.

-Bubble by Jordan Morris and Sarah Morgan, Illustrated by Tony Cliff, Color by Natalie Riess. Co-host of the historic and comedic podcast Jordan, Jesse, Go!, Jordan Morris created a graphic novel based on his hilarious audio drama series. There's monsters. There's jokes. There's kick-assery. What else do you need?

-The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins by Clint, Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy, Illustrated by Carey Pietsch. The McElroys, among their podcast empire, have adapted their hit show The Adventure Zone into a graphic novel series! Follow the journey of three heroes as they bumble their way through a D&D-inspired world.

Poetry/Essays

-The Immortal Soul Salvage Yard by Beth May. While we're talking about D&D, have you listened to the comedy podcast Dungeons and Daddies? If you have, you may be interested to read co-host Beth May's visceral and vulnerable poetry collection.

-The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green. Young Adult novelist/youtuber/public figure John Green adapted his insightful podcast into an essay collection! In the book, Green dives deep into a variety of topics that make up the human-centered planet and then rates them on a five star scale. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be moved.
